It was a good day for writing.
Aug. 23rd, 2008 07:52 pmI got invited to write for the premiere issue of Morrigan Books upcoming e-zine, The Morrigan, with the theme of "Imprisonment." Originally, I was just going to write a flash fiction piece for them in the tone of my vignette series 105 Freaky Friday Fictions. So I put it aside for "later."
I forgot about it until today as I was sitting at my computer, wondering what to write on next when that popped up in my head. 'Flash fiction,' I thought. 'Easy-peasy. I'll have that done in an hour then go on to something else.'
Four hours and 2660 words later, I was putting the polishing touches on the first draft of a new short story called The Cost of Job Security.
It was a good day for writing.
It was a good day for getting into that zone and forgetting everything else going on in life that may not be the happiest sort of thing. I can't tell you how much I love getting into that zone. Sometimes, I don't even remember what I've written and it is a joy/surprise to reread it in the first edit stage.

Date: 2008-08-25 12:21 am (UTC)just curious, do you think the weather in Seattle might slightly lend towards a better story writing environment?
(When I was younger, I used to read and later stick myself in front of a computer to write on those rare rainy weekends, and would kind of wake up 20 to 40 pages later.)
go you!
