Well it finally happened. My car was broken into. Jeff and I went to the symphony and this is what we returned to. Yes, we were in a parking garage. Yes, it has security. No, we weren't the only ones damaged. No, the bastards weren't caught.

I'm pissed. Really pissed. And upset.

Close up of the left side.

They actually wrenched my windshield wiper mechanism out. Jeff thinks they were trying to get into the car without opening the doors which would have set off the alarm. I think they were just malicious brutes. Nothing was stolen. Nothing in the open. Nothing of value that was within arm's reach.

Broken glass everywhere.

Nothing like driving home with pieces of your back windshield clattering around in my trunk. Cops told us our best bet was to go home and report the crime on the website. It would be faster and we would get our case number faster for the insurance claim.

Added insult to injury. That was the only sticker I had on my car. An old, can't-get-it-anymore Abney Park sticker. It really upset me because there was no way to recover it.

I'm fine physically. I wasn't there when it happened. Emotionally, I'm all over the map. Anger is the main feeling. With moments of wanting to cry. Disgust, too. While I am grateful--so very grateful--that nothing was stolen, I can't decide what I'm more offended by: the ineptness of the thieves (my PURSE was in the car in the trunk area) or the maliciousness of wanton destruction.

I'm lucky. Nothing else was damaged. Nothing was stolen. Jeff is dealing with the cops now (they called) and he'll deal with the insurance, too.

Still, I'm really upset about this.

Damn. I'm sorry about that. I recommend RNR automotive in Bellevue for bodywork - they're who the Acura and Lexus dealerships use. The insurance company isn't likely to mention them, as they're never the cheapest or fastest option. But they only use OEM parts and they're strong advocates for doing the job right.

It might be possible to recreate that sticker if you've still got it.
