Apex Publications is looking to hire an enthusiastic and knowledgeable fan of the SF/F/Horror genres as a marketing editor.
Needs:
1) Excellent interpersonal skills–Potentially, you’ll be interacting with the Apex authors and editors, store buyers, librarians, book reviewers, website owners, store owners and more.
2) Able to write marketing copy–You will be creating press releases, promotional packets, market copy, and such.
3) Business writing, particularly the ‘publishing’ business–Sometimes there are needs for contacting people in polite, formal manner.
4) Able to handle the stress of tight deadlines, last second changes, and editor whims–Although publishing a book takes six to twelve months, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of decisions to be made quickly during the process. Sometimes stuff will be overlooked. Or some decision affecting you will have to be reversed at the last second.
5) Experience with social media including Twitter, Facebook, and Myspace
6) Some technical talent, particularly with Wordpress and HTML
7) Organizational Skills–Remember above (slow to publish but fast-paced internally)? It’s easy to get lost in the madness.
8) Creativity–Able to create promotions, marketing plans, etc.
Accepted applicant will be given an unpaid test run through the release of one book. If both applicant and publisher (me) want to continue the relationship, the applicant will be offered a paid position (marketing editor).
Serious inquiries only!
Think you got what it takes to become an Apex minion? Then email me at jason@apexbookcompany.com with a description of why you think you’re the woman/man for the job!
