I just read "UR" by Stephen King. It is a novella only available on the Kindle. As soon as I heard that it was out, I asked my husband to buy it so I could read it.

"Following a nasty break-up, lovelorn college English instructor Wesley Smith can't seem to get his ex-girlfriend's parting shot out of his head: "Why can't you just read off the computer like the rest of us?" Egged on by her question and piqued by a student's suggestion, Wesley places an order for Amazon.com's Kindle eReader. The [pink?] device that arrives in a box stamped with the smile logo -via one-day delivery that he hadn't requested - unlocks a literary world that even the most avid of book lovers could never imagine. But once the door is open, there are those things that one hopes we'll never read or live through."

I really enjoyed this story. More than I expected. I wasn't sure if it was going to be just a long form format ad for the Kindle or not. It's not. It's a cool look into what people might do if they could look into other universes or into the future of their own world. Better still, it is a story that is loosely tied into the Dark Tower series (a favorite series of mine) but you only find that out at the last when familiar archetypical characters show up.

This is the first time I sat down and use the Kindle for a long period of time. I like it. I really do. I like the convenience of it. I bought it for my husband for his birthday last year because he is a voracious reader and I don't like taking 10 books with us on trips. Plus, I can send him my novels for him to read on his Kindle. I might like to have one of my own. I liked the way it felt in my hands and how easily I could use it.

That being said, even if I get a Kindle, I won't give up my current library. I've got way too many old books that will never be Kindlized and I do like the option of scanning my library, looking at the covers and backs of the books in order to decide which book I want to read next.
