Stymied by the Darnest Thing

I've written many thousands of words this year much less just this month. However, I've been challenged by the simple thing known as the "Christmas letter." Every year, my sister and my mom write these wonderful one page Christmas letters giving the world at large a 50,000 foot overview of what's happened that year within the family.

Now, it is my turn.

This year is hard to put into a single page summary but, if I were to write a Christmas letter, this would be the year to do it. I mean I got married and went on a honeymoon. I sold an anthology. My husband starred in a show performance. I'm making it (finally) on just my writing. He's in a good, secure job as a SDET. We have three cats – a pair of kittens and my grouchy old adult feral rescue. My goodness, the stories I could tell about all of that.

How the heck do sum up a year of living your life the way you've always wanted to? In a single page, no less?

It took me three tries before I let the husband see the letter. He liked it. Then, of course, he asked about the lack of kitten stories. I explained to him the "one page" limit and he understood.

But I get it. I want to talk about my kitties, too.
