GenCon
Sometimes I wonder if going to conventions are worth it but I never have to wonder that about GenCon Indy. Every year I go. I spend enough money on plane tickets, hotel and food to make me cringe but every year it is worth it from a professional point of view. Most of my RPG design and fiction gigs come from GenCon. This year is no exception.
I will be returning to Colonial Gothic for sure. I have a non-RPG book in progress with co-author Jason Hardy. I have been asked to write for Battletech—something I am seriously considering and there are many other things coming up that are either too vague or covered in NDAs to talk about. If all goes well, I will be busy until next GenCon.
There will be some changes next year, though. I had 10 panels for the Writer's Symposium as well as my table in the dealer's room. I cannot do that again. I burned the candle at both ends and stressed my husband. So, less panels and get a third person to help with the booth. Because, as always, I have many meetings to go to in-between panels and after hours.
Finally, I got to meet some wonderful people like Jason Sizemore, Jerry Gordon and Maurice Broaddus. Plus, seeing old friends and fellow writers like the Catalyst people, the White Wolf people, the Writer's Symposium people and the list goes on. So many awesome, creative people, so little time.
